In 2007 and 2008, Dr. Richter and his team at Montclair Veterinary Hospital, received awards from the community, including Best Veterinarian in the East Bay from Oakland Magazine, East Bay Express and KRON 4 TV.

Dr. Gary Richter is a graduate of the University of Florida with a Bachelor's of Science, a Master's of Science in Veterinary Medical Science and a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine. After graduating with honors, Dr. Richter moved to the Bay Area in 1998. His expertise and experience includes time as a full-time emergency medicine clinician in Berkeley at Pet Emergency

Treatment Service and as a general practitioner at Berkeley Dog and Cat Hospital. Dr. Richter has been the owner and medical director of Montclair Veterinary Hospital since 2002.
More recently, Dr. Richter has been integrating alternative and holistic medicine into the medical repertoire at Montclair Veterinary Hospital. Dr. Richter is now a certified veterinary acupuncturist and certified veterinary chiropractor.
Dr. Richter's professional interests are in emergency, general practice, alternative care medicine and wildlife rescue. Dr. Richter volunteers his time on the Board of Directors for the Alameda County Veterinary Medical Association and is currently serving as president. He is also the California Veterinary Medical Association’s Alameda county representative regarding animal disaster planning.
Dr. Richter enjoys outdoor activities, world travel and vegetarian cooking. He loves to spend time with his family, which includes his dog Leo and recently adopted cat Frieda.

Dr. Cynthia Lynn earned a master's degree in chemistry from Yale before receiving her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine with honors from the University of California-Davis in 1996. Dr. Lynn is a native of Minnesota, but she stayed in California after graduating and made the Bay Area her home.
Her professional interests are in small animal and exotic medicine and surgery.

She has an excellent rapport with animals that is immediately obvious to people whose pets she treats. Dr. Lynn and her son enjoy traveling and spending leisure time outdoors.

Dr. Leah Isaacson is the newest member of the veterinary team at Montclair Veterinary Hospital. She has combined her love of animals and her respect for medicine by becoming a veterinary physician with special interests in dentistry and general practice. At Montclair Veterinary Hospital, Dr. Isaacson thinks of herself as a “family doctor.” |
Although she considered specializing in veterinary surgery, she ultimately chose general practice because she wanted to sustain a personal connection and interaction with pets and their owners. As a specialist, she would have only seen pets for a brief time on a referral basis. Dr. Isaacson also sees dentistry as an extremely important area of animal health and hygiene that was largely overlooked in the past. She works with pet owners to help them understand the vital role good dental care plays in an animal’s overall health and well-being.
Dr. Isaacson lives in Oakland with her fiancé Tom, also a veterinarian. She enjoys running and hiking around the East Bay with their two dogs and hanging out at home with their two cats.
