Our Pet Mayor of Montclair Race came to a close on Sunday June 20th as a new Pet Mayor was announced, Murphy the Chocolate Lab! Animals big and small were there to show their support to various candidates, including a few who had been in the running in late May. Two new positions were created this year for the candidates cut from a different cloth, Sparky the Leopard Gecko is now the Night Patrol Officer and Penny the Hen is our Secretary of Agriculture!

Fun Times At Fenton’s

Bring friends and family down to Fenton’s Creamery during the whole month of June! They have dedicated an chocolaty, gooey concoction, “S’more a Great Cause,” to Pet and Wildlife Fund. Fenton’s is donating 25% of the sales from this sweet treat to Pet and Wildlife Fund.

Fenton’s also is hosting two Pet Mayor Booths in June. The final nine candidates for Pet Mayor of Montclair, Alice, Hank, Jasper, Murphy, Oscar, Penny, Sparky, Stella, Reuben, are all invited to be at Fenton’s from 11am-3pm on Saturday June 12th and Saturday June 19th. This will be a great event for the contestants to reach out to a different part of the community and bring some more support to themselves and the Pet and Wildlife Fund.

The Race is on for the Next “Pet” Mayor of Montclair

April is the month to nominate your pet for the Pet Mayor of Montclair Race.

The Montclair Veterinary Hospital is pleased to invite the community to the 7th annual Vote for “Pet” Mayor of Montclair contest beginning April 1, 2010. Nominations for the next Pet Mayor of Montclair run from April 1 to April 30, 2010. You may contact Montclair Veterinary Hospital at 510-339-8600 for the registration form or you may find it at www.PetandWildlifeFund.org.

In honor of being Oakland’s premier “pet friendly community,” the Vote for Pet Mayor event helps the community raise funds for the MVH Pet and Wildlife Fund. The special election takes place at the Montclair Village Farmer’s Market on La Salle Ave at Mountain Blvd on Sundays from 9 am to 1 pm. The winner will be announced on Sunday, June 20^th at 1 pm and all participants will receive an award and prizes at the announcement ceremony.

Each week at the booth, Dr. Gary Richter, Medical Director of the Montclair Veterinary Hospital, will be available to offer free pet adoption and pet care advice. Come show your support for a local charity by voting for the next “Pet” Mayor of Montclair.

All tax-deductible donations received from the Montclair Pet Mayor’s election will be donated to the MVH Pet and Wildlife Fund which supports the community by providing local pets and wildlife with medical treatment along with teaching proper care and handling of pets to members of the community.

Congratulations to 2009 Montclair Pet Mayor LIttle Bear!

Congratulations to Little Bear and local sponsors Montclair Women’s Cultural Arts Club & Crogan’s Restaurant for a wonderfully successful campaign!

Little Bear raised $5,898.16 to help pets and wildlife in need, with the grand total this year clocking in at a very impressive $19,637.16.

It has been a blast to connect with pet lovers from around the globe through Twitter, with many casting Pet Mayor ballots and “Re-Tweeting” Pet Mayor news through the Twitterverse.

Twitter has helped us raise awareness about the great cause the Pet Mayor Contest supports, leading to many with a Twitter presence to tweet and blog and otherwise champion the cause on their own. Most recently, In Circle Pets – San Francisco wrote a wonderful blog post in support of the Pet Mayor Contest.
